Dr. Scholl, I Presume

What am I doing in Dr. Scholl’s shoes?
Body in sweat shirt and lavender jeans,
stitched creases—polyster stretch.

What happened to my high heels,
my short skirts and capri pants?

Who is this creature I don’t recognize?
  Tricked by sneak-thief
  time who stole my
  youth while I strolled
  through life, distracted
  by events, trivial or major.
The face in my mirror is etched.
