A Long Sigh

After spending half a day yesterday dealing with computer technicians, I was braced to spend whatever part of this day would be necessary dealing with my credit union and my Broadband provider.

Several months ago, we purchased a router to use in forming a computer network in our house. The manufacturer offered a rebate of $99.95. As usual,… click here to continue

Techie Toons

This morning, after rising late, I went to my computer. Yesterday I had cleared the deck to start right in writing today. But first, a quick check of my email. Wrong. My relatively new Broadband service would not connect me. I tried all the gimmicks my internet service providers offered, as well as my Broadband services’s troubleshooting.

Late Blooming Writer

Since most of my writing has been done in the last fifteen years, I have called myself a late-blooming writer. Now I’m surrendering that title to my companion-housemate, who has recently started writing his memoirs at the age of 75. Once he started, it became a stronger addiction than beer or chocolate.

This weekend Stayton hosted a covered bridge festival in the park where the Stayton covered bridge has been relocated and rebuilt in 1998 after it burned. We saw and photographed six covered bridges, but none… click here to continue

Computers - Me No Savvy

I am not now, nor do I anticipate I will ever be, a competent member of the computer age. My chronological age and the present state of my brain probably preclude such a possibility, devoutly as it may be to be wished.

So, my recent purchase of a “notebook” computer (that looks surprisingly similar to its predecessor, a… click here to continue

Traffic and Weird Weather

Yesterday afternoon I hurried back from my son’s house to try to beat the commuter traffic on I-205 in Portland. I thought I was home free, when traffic slowed suddenly in the Southbound lanes. It appeared that people were gawking at the Vice President’s motorcade traveling North toward the airport. Fortunately the delay for those of us traveling South was… click here to continue
