A Visit to the Past

Today I attended Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church with my sister. We began singing in their choir, and joined a Christian Endeavor young people’s group there in about 1942, when only the basement was constructed. The rest of the church was not built until construction materials became available again after World War II ended. I left Seattle in 1962 for… click here to continue

Rainy Seattle Day

Today we drove in the warm Seattle rain to West Seattle, from Lake Forest Park. We took the Vashon ferry at Fauntleroy for the twelve-minute crossing to the island. After four bright sunny days, the rain was expected and not too disappointing.

There the four Fairfield sisters and my partner had lunch with our one surviving Fairfield cousin… click here to continue

The recalcitrant computer resisted my efforts to follow the manual’s instructions at first. Then, the software I needed to get it to write to a CD magically appeared. Of course this was only after it… click here to continue

We Live in Interesting Times

It occurred to me this afternoon, while I was reading Writer’s Digest magazine, that living in “interesting” times, such as wartime, changes writers’ viewpoints and may attract readers to more fantasy and escape literature. The short story that won first prize in their writing contest this year was pretty far out. I’m not familiar enough with all genres to define… click here to continue

Housecleaning Time

I can’t quite get up the gumption to start fall cleaning on closets, cupboards, etc., much less (ugh) wash windows. So, I’m cleaning up my computer indexes. My sloppy habits had left pictures in the document folders. They have been put in their proper storage folder now. When all goes well, it’s really fun to sit and push buttons and… click here to continue
