Happy New YearToday I found a chiropractor whose office is only about a mile from here. He is young, but I like his manner very much. He explains every thing he is going to do and why. Most of what he told me about my condition I expected. Deteriorating vertebrae, and muscle reactions to the strains of holding my head too far… click here to continue December, 31st, 2004 Swizzle Chicks GigThis morning I had a treat. My daughter-in-law and son appeared on a local live television show, AM Northwest. Carrie sings with the Swizzle Chicks and Kurt plays drums in the backup band (aka the Hot Toddies). I?ve been telling people the Swizzle Chicks sound like the Andrews Sisters, but I think that’s wrong. I think they sound better than… click here to continue December, 30th, 2004 Post Tsunami NightmareAs each day passes and the death toll figures rise, it becomes more mind-boggling to try to imagine the horror of the tsunami survivors’ situation. This morning I was inspired to write a poem about the devastating tsunami that is in all the news. It will still need some polishing, but the draft took shape rather quickly. This afternoon I managed to get my reluctant body down to the clubhouse and climbed on the treadmill. That’s the good… click here to continue December, 27th, 2004 Snorting Good HumorElephants Don’t Snore by Leverett Richards, is a book that didn’t attract me with its title when I was signing my poetry books in downtown Vancouver near where Mr. Richards was selling and signing Elephants Don’t Snore. How uninformed I was! I just finished reading his delightful book, which could be an entertaining textbook for a course in Pacific Northwest… click here to continue December, 26th, 2004 A Happy HolidayWe spent the afternoon on this Christmas Day in Scappoose, Oregon, about 35 miles from here. We had a lovely dinner at the home of my cousin and his wife. One of their daughters joined us. My daughter and son-in-law went along with us. A niece of mine from Seattle also came to the dinner. A damp, chilly… click here to continue December, 25th, 2004 |
