Last Leaf on the Dogwood

When I wrote about the last leaf on our dogwood tree a few days ago, I had forgotten about the O. Henry story by that title. When I mentioned to Al today that the last leaf was still clinging to that tree, he reminded me of the story, so I looked it up on the web.

Flash, It’s Gone

Forgetfulness is the bane of senior years. I can’t believe I’ve misplaced my flash drive. Never mind that it’s smaller than a cigarette lighter and dark gray in color, I was certain I knew right where it was. Stay tuned for more exciting revelations tomorrow.

The Last Leaf

One last leaf clings stubbornly to a branch on the skinny little dogwood tree in the backyard. It refuses to join its former companions on the cold wet grass below. Its tenuous connection to the tree can’t possibly still be providing nourishment to the leaf.  Today sun shines on the leaf’s golden surface, making it stand out even more than… click here to continue
