Routine Maintenance

Three years ago when I bought the used manufactured home we live in now, I was gratified to discover how many things had been replaced and were relatively new. Plumbing fixtures in the kitchen and both bathrooms, a drop in range and wall oven, windows, drapes, flooring and carpeting, the roof, and last but not least, the gas furnace which… click here to continue

Weather or Whether

Weather is the topic of the day around here. With lovely sunshine, 70 degrees at 7:00 p.m. and Mt. St. Helens blowing her top again, what would be more worthy of conversation?

Whether or not we will get rain tomorrow, one of the many tomorrows it has been promised, is a good question. With newly planted shrubs in our… click here to continue

Part of the… click here to continue

Clean the Pantry Day

Today is clean the pantry day in this household. This was precipitated by Al’s bringing home a few more bags of canned goods to add to the lifetime supply we already have. We could, I’m quite sure, stock a Mormon Stake House or run a soup kitchen with a very small investment for bread and milk. A full chest freezer… click here to continue

Six Bits is Not a Dollar

Tonight on Jeopardy three male contestants were asked if what a woman earns for every dollar a man earns is $.76, $.86, or $.96. The contestant who responded knew that it was $.76, the least amount.

I wonder why we can’t change that, when women are in the majority. Probably not enough women are in power positions. Women of my… click here to continue
