Ramblings of a WriterYesterday a new neighbor moved her furniture in, but I haven’t seen her yet. Our backyards face each other, with a walkway in between. When I walk by to go to the pool or the mailbox, I don’t see her around. Maybe sometime over the weekend I’ll get a chance to meet her. Her predecessor, my former neighbor, assured me… click here to continue June, 30th, 2005 Easy Living--SummertimeSummer-like weather is back--to stay, I hope. I had a good swim today, got a little yard work done, and attended the writing critique group meeting. Some good suggestions for polishing one of my memoir stories were offered by group members. There is a lot of diversity in the group. Age differences, genre differences, and style differences keep… click here to continue June, 29th, 2005 Get to Work, GalIt’s pretty sad when my motivation for housecleaning depends on whether or not I’ll have visitors in the near future. All the WWII planes, some originals, some replicas, brought back a lot of memories. Howard Hughes’ big plane is, of course, the main attraction and is huge. A glassed in area inside the plane allows spectators to see in both directions, but not the cockpit.… click here to continue June, 26th, 2005 Saturday RoutineThis was the kind of Saturday I had when I was working. I did a couple of loads of laundry, had a swim, cleared and rearranged files on my notebook computer and read a bit in the New Yorker. Either I’m getting old, crotchety, and more picky, or the quality of writing and editing has slipped just a little… click here to continue June, 25th, 2005 Time Waits for No One, Certainly Not For MeThe fair weather swimmers are finding their way to the pool now, so I have company occasionally when I swim. The water was very warm today for a delightful swim. This is one of those days, and I have too many of them, when I sit down in the evening and try to figure out how I… click here to continue June, 24th, 2005 |
