A Cool Summer SaturdayToday was a good one. I revised some stories, had a swim and a nap, and also cleaned a few kitchen appliances. We went to a barbecue dinner at the clubhouse this evening with live music furnished by Dave Eberle. I enjoyed the music more than the food. I’ve eaten good barbecue so, unfortunately, know the difference between good and… click here to continue July, 09th, 2005 Turn Another Calendar PageThis whole day disappeared while I wandered around on the internet, making reservations for side trips on our cruise, reading blogs, book reviews, etc. About the only constructive thing I did was check on a neighbor we hadn’t seen all day. The little dark-haired Italian octogenarian, with the snapping black eyes, was fine physically and watching television. For four or five nights now, ever since we hooked it up and charged it, it plays a song (similar to a cell phone ring) for several minutes every twenty-four hours. This occurs regularly at 1:00 a.m. This new phone does not… click here to continue July, 05th, 2005 Independence Day, 2005NOTE: We had a power failure just as I posted this last night. Apparently I didn’t click fast enough. I just discovered it wasn’t posted, so here it is: Today was a lovely Independence Day, but I have to take a moment to think about those who aren’t free to spend such a day with their families. May… click here to continue July, 05th, 2005 A Quiet Third of JulyThis perfectly gorgeous day should be producing an equally stunning sunset soon. I’m really glad for all the people who are camping and picnicking or just barbecuing in the back yard. We did none of the above, but enjoyed a quiet day at home. I had a solitary swim, then grilled steak with the help of a George Foreman imitation.… click here to continue July, 03rd, 2005 |
