A Busy Friday

Today began with a surprise phone call from an old friend passing through Tigard on her way from grandchildren-sitting in Portland to Corvallis, where she lives. We had a cuppa and a too-short visit. We got to meet her beautiful Brindle Boxer who keeps her company.

Lots of errands today, including a haircut, took up time. I washed… click here to continue

Cloudy Crystal Balls

The ongoing and recently publicized controversy over the Pledge of Allegiance has brought attention to its author, Francis Bellamy. It was a more simple version that he originated, and it has evolved to become an object of dispute.

It’s Monday, so I’ve started slowly cleaning house. The kitchen counters got a scrub and… click here to continue

Will Someone Hand Me My Cane

This is the anniversary of one of the events in my lifetime that I never imagined could occur in my world when I was younger. There have been many others.

When I was in my late teens, I went to a party where a young man from South America was telling about life in his country. He said… click here to continue

Writers Faire and Other Activities

We had a nice visit with my daughter, my son and daughter-in-law this afternoon. With busy schedules, it’s hard to get together very often. We enjoyed sharing our pictures of the trip with them. We were able to share some of the abundant supply of vegetables from Al’s sister’s garden with them, as well. We always enjoy visiting with my… click here to continue
