Just a Note

Just to let you know we’ll be gone for at least two weeks, starting tomorrow. Tonight, I’ve been packing and, in between times, peeking at the webcam in Kruger Park. We’ve seen impalas, birds, water buffalo, and a lone elephant, all this evening. Earlier today, a hippo was bathing in the watering hole with a bird waiting nearby. It’s… click here to continue

Toot Your Horn

“He who tooteth not his own horn, the same shall not be tooted”

I put that in quotes, because I’ve been lead to believe for many years that someone memorable said it. Possibly it’s just a memorable saying that one of my ancestors made up, who knows? If you know who first said it, let me know and… click here to continue

South African Scenario

This morning it’s night in South Africa. The watering hole reflects the black of the sky. It is deserted. On rare occasions a single bird or animal will drink at night, but most of the activity is in daylight.

Earlier today (South African time), actually last night here at this computer, there was a parade of animals at… click here to continue

A Day With Kyran

We had a great day today playing with Al’s great-grandson, Kyran, and visiting with his parents. They arrived last night and stayed with us so Kyran’s dad could attend a meeting in Portland. He left early this morning and returned in early afternoon to have a late lunch with us before they headed back home. While he was away,… click here to continue
