Literary ControversyThe writers’ conference last weekend emphasized for me the fact that the style of poetry I write is not in fashion. I like poetry that is understandable, somewhat literal and thus relates to some reality in my life and possibly in the lives of prospective readers. We did some exercises writing whimsical verses. We were told that neither… click here to continue February, 28th, 2006 It is a Dark and Gloomy NightI’m feeling a bit under the weather tonight and can’t really think of much to say. Many computer chores and writing revisions await my attention so I need to get my head together. Not much was accomplished today—merely the most pressing tasks. Tomorrow, unfortunately, will probably start with a trip to the clinic for an antibiotic. I hope… click here to continue February, 27th, 2006 Lines by an Aging PoetTonight I feel my actual age. I don’t want it to be heavy or hard to push and I’d like it to have tools with it for cleaning… click here to continue February, 22nd, 2006 Olympics FatigueWatching the Winter Olympics is wearing me out. I love the figure skating, but I’m starting to feel like I’ve been going around the ice with all of them. I can’t give up until the ladies’ short program finishes tonight. But I’m draggin’. Today I took some of my travel pages to my writing critique group. We are… click here to continue February, 21st, 2006 A Dose of Italian TemperamentA dramatic incident at the Winter Olympics in Italy reminded me of another incident involving an Italian man that occurred in my life about thirty years ago. If you have not watched the ice dancing, you won’t be aware that an Italian couple who came out of retirement to skate in Torino, fell at the end of their… click here to continue February, 20th, 2006 |
