Send Her to Assisted Living, Do Not Pass Go…At the check-out counter (10 items or fewer) in a local grocery store this morning, I remarked “I may have more than 10 items, but the only other cashier open is checking a couple out who probably have about 200.” The young checker smiled and said, “I don’t stress over the count, there’s enough stress without that.” March, 24th, 2006 Poor Writing = Poor Reading Duh!Since writing became my major late life interest, I read with much more difficulty and occasionally with less pleasure. I see many flaws in others’ writing, as well as my own. This morning I read a story in an online magazine, a pretty good story, but several flaws jumped out to distract me. They didn’t receive the wide distribution that email jokes enjoy, but instead had access that was limited to radio, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, etc. I remember some sort of publication my dad had (or maybe even wrote), I’m not… click here to continue March, 19th, 2006 Uninvented InventionsIn my later years, I regret that I never followed through on any of my ideas for inventions. Some of those inventions were brought forth by more ambitious intellects. Some still don’t exist. The advent of the latest reality television program showcasing inventors has reminded me of some of my earlier brilliant (or so I thought) fantasies. When… click here to continue March, 18th, 2006 |
