A Satisfying Day

Today was a satisfactory day. I actually got a few things done. I cleaned my triple closet in the bedroom, packed six or eight boxes, touched up the white paint on the kitchen cabinet doors and watched a couple of travel films on public broadcasting. While cleaning the closet, I found a large transparent plastic zipper bag and loaded… click here to continue

Busy Saturday

Busy, busy day. We listed this manufactured home with a realtor. I chose the one I had bought it through. He is energetic, cheerful and optimistic and I think he can sell it fairly quickly. We shall see.

After spending the morning tidying up and filling boxes, then signing all the paperwork in the afternoon, I debated… click here to continue

On the Move Again

My son reminded me tonight that every time I move from one place to another, when I get halfway through and am wiped out, I vow never to do it again. Generally, I say something like, “When I leave here, it’ll be feet-first on a stretcher.” But, never say never--I think I’m gonna do it again.

Moving Right Along

Looking at my record, it would be hard to convince anyone how much I hate to move, but I do. Probably the first time in my life I’ll ever be ten years or more in one place, it will be where my ashes are planted. I’m disappointed to note that no 60th reunion seems to be planned for the class of 1946. I attended the 50th reunion ten years ago, but missed the… click here to continue

At the End of the Day

(There’s a phrase that’s overused today).

‘Tis the end of another lazy day--actually a two-nap day. Unbelievable. Sleep is the best thing I do when I can breathe. It was also another lovely spring day. We didn’t even have enough clouds for a decent sunset.

I did some writing, mostly tedious reworking of memoir stories to condense and make them more readable, I… click here to continue

The Right Way, The Wrong Way, and the Hard Way

I don’t know why I have to do things the hard way. Just to be different, I guess. Putting life history together in a book gets pretty complicated when you have stories that span 75 years or so.

It would be easy to write a memoir in chronological order--well maybe not easy--but more simple than scattering various areas… click here to continue
