Cultural Climate Changes

It’s another gorgeous day in this neighborhood. We in the Pacific Northwest know how to appreciate a sunny, warm day. In spite of all the pollen blowing around, I deadheaded a few flowers and moved some planters around in the yard, with Al’s help. That is to say, I pointed and he moved them.

Facts I Didn’t Need to Know

A little fact I picked up today comes under the heading of “things I wish I hadn’t read,” as well as “things the travel agent is never going to tell us.” Beijing, the final destination of our Asian cruise, where we have hotel reservations for two nights, and hope to see the sights before we fly home, is having… click here to continue

April is the Coolest Month

Queen Elizabeth and I have now survived another birthday. She was three when I was born. I know the words to hundreds of songs from the ‘40s, few from the ‘50’s. Some of the folk songs from the ‘60’s I’ve learned in my… click here to continue

Laughter and Sunshine

Tonight I’m thinking about Pearlie Mae (Pearl Bailey) when she would sing about being so tired and how much her feet hurt. Bless her bones, I hope she’s resting now.

The last few days when I’ve been under the weather, I’ve chosen humorous books to read. Chuckling and laughing seem to restore a bit of energy. After finishing… click here to continue

Chuckle, Cough, Sneeze, Wheeze, Laugh

I finished a Robert Fulghum book today. After that, I found his website and read his journal entries (tantamount to a blog). He helped make what could have been a dismal morning of coughing, sneezing, wheezing, and aching a fun time. I laughed a lot.

As a writer, I feel some kinship with him. But he is… click here to continue
