Hollywood Spurned

A former writing instructor of mine, who teaches Screenwriting at Portland State along with performing many other writing-related activities, is starting a summer project to produce short videos about and for senior citizens. He plans to post them on the web. He sent out an email to all his acquaintances over age 65 who might be interested in acting in… click here to continue

Changes in the ‘hood

Yesterday afternoon while I was planting petunias in pots on our balcony, a neighbor hollered up greetings. She wanted to commiserate about rent increases. She is moving out, as is her next-door neighbor. Both ladies live in basement apartments in our four-plex. I have mixed feelings about losing these gals. Yesterday afternoon I… click here to continue

Road Rage Revisited

This morning my eye caught two headlines on the AOL news. Interestingly, they were adjacent to each other. The first was about road rage. The second, about high blood pressure. Well, what a coincidence--you think?

When I read the article about road rage, I wasn’t surprised that Miami was rated as the worst city in the country. In… click here to continue

Mother’s Day Sentiments

At the risk of sabotaging the economy of this country, I would love to see Mother’s Day returned to its original purpose. I don’t really need flowers, candy or a new vacuum cleaner. My greatest need, and that of mothers around the world, is peace.

Years ago, a friend of mine said to me, meaning to be derogatory,… click here to continue
