Affordable Homes

Today AOL ran a story on homes in various parts of the country that are available for sale at prices of $150,000 or less. I was surprised how many there were at prices considered affordable in this day and age. The first house I ever owned a piece of was purchased for $4,999 in 1951, I believe.  A few… click here to continue

Weather Report

The last two mornings I’ve opened the drapes to see snow falling outside. It didn’t last long, but the cold stayed most of the day. Another blogger whose writing I follow is at the beach and mentioned that, with sun shining, it began to hail there. Viva Oregon—if you don’t like the weather, just blink your eyes—it’ll change. The poem follows:

So Maybe I Can Remember to
Serve the Asparagus

Early Easter Weekend

Reading is becoming more comfortable for me now so I’m back to my old habit of digesting two or three books at a time. One I’m presently reading is written by a friend and is not a genre I usually read, but is well written and based in Oregon and Washington. It’s light reading—a Christian romance novel. The other is… click here to continue

Conversation with a Computerized Treadmill

For the last few days, I’ve been talking to a treadmill. It’s a smart piece of equipment that calculates all sorts of things, such as miles per hour, distance, elapsed time, calories burned, heart rate, etc. Today is the first day I was able to persuade it to share my heart rate with me. Of course, I had to enter… click here to continue
