Appropriate Quote

“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” --Krishnamurti

I came across the above quote in my wanderings yesterday and thought how appropriate it is for an election year. I’d like to know in what year it was written. I suppose I could look up the author on Google and get… click here to continue

Politics in a Nutshell

How nutty can it get? Borrowed from another blog:

Politics

Since it’s the season ...

Politics is pissing in public.
--Norman O. Brown

A politician is a statesman who approaches every question with an open mouth.
--Adlai Stevenson

At least two thirds of our miseries spring… click here to continue

Natural Disasters

I don’t know whether horrific natural disasters are escalating or we are just getting more information about them in this “Information Age.” This morning, AOL has 150 ghastly pictures of the earthquake in China. I’d never before heard, “Roll the patrol a… click here to continue

They listened to my pleas not to bring gifts—I don’t need anything except their company—so I am delighted. My son-in-law’s parents… click here to continue

With a Song In My Head

If I have written about this anomaly of memory before and am repeating myself, I apologize. Today I read about a woman who remembers almost everything that ever occurred in her life and thought what a horrible prospect that would be. She can’t force herself to forget anything that she’d rather not remember.

As my general memory deteriorates,… click here to continue

Greed Rears its Ugly Head

(Or is it just good marketing)

Grocery stores are reaching out to grab our “stimulus” checks. See who has the best offer before signing up. One will give you a gift card for the amount of your check plus 10%, one will add 15% to the value of the gift card, and another will give you cash with… click here to continue
