Post Primary Ponderings

“Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”

--Douglas Adams

The above quote works a little better than a saying I’ve repeated over the years, especially election years.

“Anyone who’s smart enough to be president is too smart to want the job.”

Recent Reading of Interest

An email I received today lists predictions made in 1900 and printed in the Ladies Home Journal of what life would be like in the year 2000. The quote is very long, so rather than copy it here, I’ll refer you to the link in case you would like to read it also:

Politics is pissing in public.
--Norman O. Brown

A politician is a statesman who approaches every question with an open mouth.
--Adlai Stevenson

At least two thirds of our miseries spring… click here to continue

Natural Disasters

I don’t know whether horrific natural disasters are escalating or we are just getting more information about them in this “Information Age.” This morning, AOL has 150 ghastly pictures of the earthquake in China. China is a long way from here, but I’ve been to Beijing. I saw the faces of the people walking their dogs near the hotel where… click here to continue

Morning Entertainment

Our free musical entertainment for May was provided, this morning, by Dr. Jazz and the Interns, with Nurse Ethel. This group of veteran musicians obviously loves performing and visibly enjoys each other’s company, as well as belting out old tunes. Some songs I remember, some may even be from before my time. I’d never before heard, “Roll the patrol a… click here to continue
