Discovery

Most of us know that credit card companies seize every opportunity to sell us some service, needed or not. Thus I was not surprised when I called to validate my new Discover card and was assaulted with a sales pitch for fraud and identity theft insurance. The young man on the other end of the phone might have been… click here to continue

Calm after the Storm

After a sleepless night waiting for someone to show up and steal my car, I called the grocery store where I thought I’d left my billfold in a cart. None had been turned in. I could live without the power lines between us—underground would be nice, but I can mentally block them and the outdoor lights out and just enjoy the vivid colors. As I drive around our little town and on into Portland, there… click here to continue

We Don’t Take Checks

Yesterday I had a light breakfast meal for lunch in a restaurant about 15 miles from home. I tucked the check and a $20.00 bill in the book I’d been reading, went to the restroom, and walked out the door without paying.  I tossed the book and my purse in the car and drove off without noticing the unusual… click here to continue
