Law and Drama

During the years I worked in law offices I thought when I retired I might hang out in courthouses and sit in on interesting trials. I rarely got into courtrooms as a legal secretary and assistant so I thought that might be a fascinating way to spend some time in later life.

Somehow I ended up living a considerable… click here to continue

The Nitty Gritty of Daily Life

Speaking of Nitty Gritty, I wonder what ever happened to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Maybe I’ll Google them and see if they’re still around. I saw them at a fair once years ago. Yesterday afternoon I got some kind words and good suggestions for a couple of memoir stories I’m working… click here to continue

Body Maintenance

By coincidence, two of the younger members of my family had surgery today. In Washington, my middle-aged, marathon running nephew had arthroscopic surgery on a knee. The word is that he will probably be able to run again when his knee heals. His cousin, my son, had a small tumor removed from the palm of his hand here in… click here to continue

How Did They Do That

Most of us probably don’t wonder very often how history will view our era. Few of us will be mentioned explicitly and if, as in my case, we don’t even have grandchildren, we could care less. This morning as I headed for the pool and turned on the car radio, I heard this message, (paraphrased) A few years down… click here to continue
