Celebrating Thanksgiving

We had a busy and most enjoyable Thanksgiving celebration over the last few days. We went to Seattle to join several of Floyd’s offspring and their families for a dinner on Thursday and came back to have a second dinner with my two kids, their spouses and a couple of their friends. The food was fabulous at both meals… click here to continue

Nostalgia

As I sit at my computer, I’m hearing a Lawrence Welk Thanksgiving show. Haven’t seen any of his shows for a long time. As I listen, I’m recalling this afternoon spent in Vancouver, where I lived for twenty years. I’ve been away from there about six years now and don’t get over to visit very often. A Shot in the Arm

My writing critique group is down to four people and fairly often only two of us show up. But we still help each other out as much as we can. The delete key on my computer is not totally illegible, but the letters are getting pale.

Probably the most annoying interruption of… click here to continue

One Liners

As a writer, I always listen to conversations, sometimes even eavesdropping, for original lines to use in my work. Yesterday I went into a restaurant alone just before 1:00 p.m. for lunch. As I waited, for some time, to be seated, I heard a waitress say they were short-handed. So the man who was supposed to seat incoming diners, was… click here to continue

Now and Then

Tonight while I was swimming some kind of party was going on in a room adjacent to the pool, visible through two walls of sliding glass doors. All the blinds were open and the room was full of people and balloons. Children were running around and playing with the balloons. I thought how unusual it is these days to see… click here to continue
