Brrr and More Brrr

When I crawled out of bed at 6:30 a.m. today to turn up the heat, I peeked out the window and it was already snowing. It hasn’t stopped for an instant, yet. I crawled back in bed and got up a couple of hours later. The temperature on the porch when I got the paper was 31 degrees and… click here to continue

Another Winter Day

Our thermometer is see-sawing up and down from near-freezing to brrr. However, the sun came out this afternoon and melted a lot of our snow, clearing most of the roads and sidewalks. I was able to get to the pool and hot tub for a workout and a soak. So were others; enough others that the pool was crowded… click here to continue

It Doesn’t Take Much

It doesn’t take much to thrill this old gal. After two days indoors, we were able to get out this afternoon briefly. I went for a dip in the pool and the hot tub. Floyd had a doctor’s appointment. In the hot tub, a young fellow of 60 or so asked me if I were married. I was so… click here to continue

If the snow that’s threatened arrives tonight and then we’re frozen in, we’ll be okay. We even have a bunch of movies to watch if the power stays… click here to continue

Welcome Winter

I’ve decided to welcome winter this year. Might as well. It is here whether or not I want it. We are being warned of possible snow flurries this weekend. We’ve had chilly, foggy mornings and evenings and at least one frosty morning.

Yesterday I cleaned the fireplace to get ready for some crackling supplementary heat. We have a… click here to continue

Does This Clutter Make My Closets Look Fat

In order to find space to put up minimal Christmas decorations, I’ve had to start serious de-cluttering activities. To get about eight months of un-filed papers put away, I began to clean file drawers. I really don’t save every receipt I ever get, but I did find one for a sewing machine purchased in 1970 that I gave away about… click here to continue
