Sexy Old Car

My car is being stalked. Who knew a ten-year-old Honda Civic was so sexy. For the third time, I’ve found a note on my windshield from a guy who wants to buy my car. They’re all from the same fellow.

When I got the first offer, I called him and told him that there is no chance I’ll ever… click here to continue

Support Groups

Today I went to the now monthly meeting of the Kaiser Weight Maintenance Study support group I’m assigned to. When I was driving away, it occurred to me that I felt like saying, “I’m Barbara and I’m a foodaholic.” I might try that next meeting for a laugh.

Today my youngest sister forwarded a history of the apron that included photos of two apron patterns from the 1940’s.… click here to continue

Nobody Told Me This About Aging

Sitting at my computer in two sweaters, it’s the first week of July. It was hot last week, but turned cold overnight. Granted, we were warned by the weather forecasters. Also, my pullover is lightweight and the sleeveless vest over it is crocheted and, naturally, full of holes. I’m extremely reluctant to turn on heat in July and I’ve… click here to continue

Fourth of July

Almost every year around this time I remember the most emotional Fourth of July in my entire life. In 1989 I was recovering from colon cancer surgery and walking my legs off to get my health back. My mantra was, “I will survive.” Obviously, I did—for at least twenty years. These days sore feet keep me from doing much walking… click here to continue
