Memoir Research

I just finished reading Silent Partner by the ex-wife of the former governor of New Jersey. It’s a memoir of her experience in a marriage that lasted for several years, produced a child, and ended sadly with the discovery that the husband-governor had a homosexual relationship. It was a tough read that brought back some painful memories of a former… click here to continue

A Good Sunday

Although I was pretty stiff until after my romp in the pool this morning, I made some great blueberry pancakes. I finally found Trader Joe’s in Lake Oswego about a week ago and got some of their whole grain biscuit/pancake/waffle mix. With milk, vanilla and blueberries added, they turned out well.

My knee is much better today; I was able… click here to continue

Weather Records

I tend to believe in global warming—not because I have a lot of scientific know-how, but most of what I read is fairly convincing. We are breaking records with our weather this year, also. Today was a record high of 94 degrees and if we go over 90 degrees tomorrow, we’ll have a record number of 90 degrees, or over,… click here to continue

I’m hoping for an Indian Summer that might run through October as we have had… click here to continue

We Have a Pink Tomato at Last

The puny plant in a pot on our deck has fewer than a dozen tomatoes on it and they are all quite small. If I recall correctly it’s an Early Girl plant, but we barely have a pink tint on the largest of these mini-tomatoes. After a rainy Labor Day weekend, we are promised some more 80 degree weather, so… click here to continue

Recent Events

On Tuesday King City Apartments invited all the tenants to an end-of-summer barbecue buffet. The food was fabulous and it was a good opportunity to meet new people. There must be quite a turnover here because many of those attending were unfamiliar to me. But, it’s possible that the old-timers don’t show up at these functions. Also, most of the… click here to continue
