Dumb or Not

For several days last week I struggled with the remote on the television in my office area. It would do everything except change channels. Since Comcast placed the HD adapter on top of the set, channels must be changed with the remote. The television itself is on Channel 3 all the time. So I fought with it, tried different distances,… click here to continue

X Size Rant

If I had thought of it when I was younger, and if I had the means, I’d have started a campaign for uniform sizing in women’s clothing. Even with the same numbering system, i.e. sizes 2 to 20 or more, expensive garments run larger than their economical equivalents. When you get into the S, M, L, X, XL, 1X,… click here to continue

Mean Spiritedness

A blogger whose work I read regularly complained recently about the mean spirited tone he observes in this country today. This week, the reaction to President Obama’s receiving the Nobel Peace Prize certainly bears out that observation. Naysayers rushed to complain and observe, among other opinions, that he might not have won if he were white. Give us a… click here to continue

Hidden Trivia

Then I spent time at the computer and did my swim/exercise bit mid-afternoon. I did a little grocery shopping on the way home and… click here to continue

Get a Life

I’m sleepless in the wee small hours of the morning. Just finished reading a murder mystery and pulled up the internet. It seemed like a good time to waste time reading the “news”—actually “gossip.” Glancing at the comments below an article about Kirstie Alley’s weight, I chuckled. The commenter referred to all the others who’d published comments.

“You should… click here to continue

Hollyhock Dolls

Ever since I took up writing again when I retired, I’ve maintained that writers are among some of the most interesting people around. At my first class Wednesday, I sensed that this group will continue to prove that premise to me. All are writing stories about their life experiences. As we shared little segments of our stories, we noticed something… click here to continue
