Monday Lunch

Today was lunch with the Kaiser study bunch at the café in Hawthorne Fred Meyer. We sit directly across the street from the Hawthorne Theater, which I’m told was formerly the Scottish Rite Temple. A parking lot next door to it has provided entertainment for us the past two Mondays, or rather the musicians’ humongous motor homes with trailers attached,… click here to continue

Head Lines

It seems like one thing after another keeps me away from the pool and my exercise program recently. Either I’ve somehow poked a hole in my thin skin and don’t want to risk an infection, or I suspect I have something contagious and don’t want to expose anyone else.

Today I’ve fought a headache all day and the sniffles.… click here to continue

Household Management

This week I’ve been thinking about household management and how it becomes more tedious as I age. It’s great fun to relive the trip, add little tidbits here and there as I remember them, and clean up the writing.

Tomorrow morning our monthly… click here to continue

One Project Accomplished

Yesterday my daughter and son-in-law came over and helped unload items stored in the attic for the last three years and move them into a storage locker in a building across the street. Now we won’t have to go up and down rickety steps to the attic every time we want a seldom-used piece of furniture or holiday items, etc.… click here to continue

Beggars—Choosers

On Monday I had lunch with three women who were part of the Kaiser Weight Loss Maintenance Study that I participated in. During our conversation, one mentioned that she always carries a plastic bag full of Power Bars in her car and hands them out to homeless people on the street. She mentioned one who is very grateful and says… click here to continue
