WRITER or writer

I have called myself a writer ever since a writing workshop about fifteen years ago when the instructor informed us, “If you write, you’re a writer.” Today I read a newspaper article about Ursula LeGuin, who at my age, has written fifty books. Clearly, we are not in the same category. I’ll call the difference, writer (me)—WRITER (Ms. LeGuin). We have… click here to continue

The Neighborhood

Before I moved into this apartment more than three years ago, I hadn’t lived in a rental unit for many years. Most of the apartments in this complex are arranged in a traditional way with hallways joining them together. I assume the occupants run into each other coming and going and get fairly well acquainted.

It seems odd that an estimated completion date should be publicized, when it could be an embarrassment later on.

I remember a few… click here to continue

Faux Spring

We are having a fabulous fake spring with 60-degree sunny weather today.  I actually had to water flowers on the deck. Our cold winter weather was for such a short period so long ago, I’ve almost forgotten it.

After a good showing last week, with many losers, our T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group didn’t do so well today. Almost… click here to continue

Brrr!

I just read about a couple who have chosen to live without central heat in a very cold part of the country. They do provide heating pads for guests to sit on and use electric blankets in cold bedrooms. He writes a blog about their experiment that you can access from the following address:

If all our winters… click here to continue
