Weather Woes

I remember noticing some really nice weather during the past few weeks. Probably the reason I noticed it was because it was so rare. We broke a record for April showers in Portland this year. We have had some rain on 25 of the 29 days so far. The old record was 24 days. I haven’t heard the forecast, but… click here to continue

Pool Rules

Every swimming pool has a set of rules, several of which are often ignored. I have my own set of rules for my pool time. First of all, I never stop moving the rest of my body when my tongue is wagging, or when it’s hanging out, for that matter. Usually I exercise for fifty minutes in the pool, then… click here to continue

Madison Avenue Madness

Over the years of hearing and watching radio and television commercials apparently aimed at second grade level, I learned to automatically tune them out. When remote controls became available, I wore out the mute buttons.

The perils of Pauline have nothing on the perils of old age. I shall attempt to launch a humorous account of two senior citizens grasping several remote control devices and struggling to get a new television setup with way too many bells and whistles to… click here to continue

Happy Birthday to Me

Next week I’ll have another birthday and this year it’s time to renew my driver’s license. I stuffed my purse with the requisite documents to prove who I am, how old I am, where I live and that I’m a citizen. We have new laws regarding identification in Oregon that are quite strict.  My checkbook made the trip also, since… click here to continue

How Does It Feel to be Elderly

I don’t remember wondering at any time during my first fifty years how it would feel to be “elderly.” Of course I did think that, if I were lucky, I’d live to old age. Also, the qualification for “old age” or “elderly” somehow ratcheted up a few years with every birthday.

Every year now, when I spend time with my… click here to continue
