How About a Rant or Two

We have a horrifying case going on in our city concerning a missing child. The news media milk every detail (what few they have) day and night. I’m not an expert on this type of case and maybe it’s helpful to keep people stirred up and listening to the same information over and over, but it certainly gets tiresome.

That Big Bright Ball in the Sky

A few days of beautiful weather really raises morale in these parts. Now that we finally bit the bullet last summer and installed an air conditioner, I’m not dreading really hot days. If the weather gets hot enough, I might even dunk in an outdoor pool for a change.

My son was just a teenager when he lost his father, nearly thirty years ago. My daughter’s father lived into his seventies, so he’s not been… click here to continue

Weather or Not

One good thing about living in the Pacific Northwest is never lacking a subject for conversation. The weather always furnishes material. My sister in Seattle tells me they’ve not had a single day this spring where the temperature went above 75 degrees. Here in Portland, we had at least one—I don’t remember any more than that. Actually, we had a… click here to continue

Heavy News Week

While I’ve been lounging around in a fog most of this week, I’ve had time to read the daily newspapers for a change. Pretty depressing. National and local news has been focused on the disappearance of a young boy from a local school.

I’m sure much of the world is watching what happens with the oil spill in the… click here to continue
