Volunteer Teaching

Today I met with the Assistant State Coordinator for AARP driver training volunteers to learn more about the duties. Also, so that she could learn more about me and decide whether I’d be suited to the task. We meet again later this week so that she can give me more information and paperwork. Life Happens

More and more it seems, life gets in the way of my writing time. I have heard from all of my sisters recently about their schedules and so I know I’m not the only one whose retirement is super busy. I’m glad we all have interesting things to do. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have so many of them.

Automation

I am gradually getting my computer set up so that I can pay most of my bills electronically. So far, my electric company and the landlord are the only ones for whom I have to write checks. This will make it less stressful when we are out of town. I shouldn’t have to worry about forgetting to pay a bill… click here to continue



Neighbors

It is said, “Good fences make good neighbors.” Our only close neighbor has a fence around his back yard, as we do also. However, the front yards were separated by a hedge that has been dying. We had to remove part of it. As a result, our living room windows that face each other are no longer hidden.

Sun, Sea and Rocks

We took the new car over to the coast today. I was anticipating cloudy weather, as forecast, so took extra clothes. It was a gorgeous day everywhere we went. We took a scenic route that involved crossing several bridges and a ferry ride across the Columbia River. Riding, Not Writing

We tried out Al’s new car today. We drove to Stevenson and Cascade Locks, visited a while with Al’s niece and her husband, then came back home after the rush hour traffic. The car rides well, the weather was ideal, and it was a pleasant day.

A Hot One

Most of the morning I spent reading the rest of a memoir. Each one I read gives me more ideas for adding things to mine.

This afternoon I took one of my memoir stories to the critique group and received a few suggestions. Reading it aloud prompted me to remember another incident to add at the end of the story.
