Shopping Adventures

This afternoon I got online to research television sets, searching in particular for one with a headphone jack—not too easy to find. I called the 800 number of an electronics chain and got some good information from a polite young man who sounded as if he might actually be in this country, maybe even on or from the west coast.… click here to continue

Welcome Summer

Our summer has belatedly arrived. On this third day of hot weather, I turned on the air conditioner about an hour ago. Since it’s set for 80 degrees, it hasn’t lowered the temperature in here, but it, along with a ceiling fan and a smaller fan, is moving the air to make it feel cooler.

This morning I turned the heat on the lowest setting, but it’s taking the… click here to continue

How About a Rant or Two

We have a horrifying case going on in our city concerning a missing child. The news media milk every detail (what few they have) day and night. I’m not an expert on this type of case and maybe it’s helpful to keep people stirred up and listening to the same information over and over, but it certainly gets tiresome.

I’m… click here to continue

That Big Bright Ball in the Sky

A few days of beautiful weather really raises morale in these parts. Now that we finally bit the bullet last summer and installed an air conditioner, I’m not dreading really hot days. If the weather gets hot enough, I might even dunk in an outdoor pool for a change.

After four consecutive days of water workouts, I’m ready to take… click here to continue
