All is Calm

I’ve probably deliberately slowed the pace of my life down to a comfortable crawl as compared with my working and early retirement days. It’s nice to be past the inability to say no to all the people who think retirees have nothing to do and to pick and choose my favorite activities.

My swimming schedule has become very random and results in meeting many different people who always swim at the same time, or sometimes swimming alone. Since I’m convinced my body fat will not permit me to sink, I don’t worry much about being there alone. I’m just careful not to slip, trip or otherwise injure myself. So far, my worst disaster has been forgetting a towel and having to dry myself with paper towels and a hair dryer. Try that sometime for a good laugh.

Members of my extended family have had more excitement than necessary this month with the storm-related power failures and minor traffic accidents that could have been much worse. Winter viruses have attacked a few of them, but all are recovering now.

Watching the huge rescue efforts on Mt. Hood has been enough drama for us. It is sad that they were unsuccessful, but Mother Nature is unforgiving of the slightest errors in judgment.
