Another Rainy Day

After a late breakfast at home, I swam and exercised in the pool. Then I took a quick trip through the spa tub and hurried home to get dressed for a dinner at Floyd’s daughter’s church in Northeast Portland. We had a good visit with her and her boyfriend and a great spaghetti dinner at the annual fundraiser for the church. I brought home two packages of their delicious meatballs for the freezer and some future good meals.

After a nap and a few chores, I tackled the spare room closet shelves. When I moved in, things were just shoved up there. Now there is a little more order, but I still have a couple of boxes to go through and catalog.

I have had fun making a bookshelf display of things I brought back from my trip to South Africa. On a closet shelf, I found the souvenirs I brought back from Ireland and will put them on display. Then, if any visitors are interested, they can look through the pictures, postcards and other memorabilia. If not, I won’t bore them.

Just restoring order to any little corner of this domicile gives me great satisfaction. Just think how good I could feel if I ever got it all whipped into shape.

According to the news, ark-building time is back. Almost five inches of rain has fallen in Newport and a couple of inches here, at least, in the last 48 hours. With the forecast for more rain, flooding is anticipated on the coast and in some of our smaller rivers. The trees are still lovely, but their falling leaves don’t help the situation with all this rain. Since we are inside, snug and warm, most of the time, I don’t mind looking out at the very wet landscape. I hate looking at the wrecks on the news, however. It’s almost time for my Sunday night TV--Cold Case and Without a Trace.
