Back AgainHere I am, back again already. It’s hard to kick a long-standing habit. I do have a couple of things to say tonight. Today I received a writing newsletter from Erica Miner, a writer in Southern California, whom I have corresponded with before. She complained about the Christmas hype seeming to start earlier every year and solicited other people’s feelings. She will be publishing my response next month. To borrow a teenybopper’s phrase, I so agree with her. Stores in this area had Christmas decorations out before Halloween this year. Give us a break! We were given a lovely Christmas tree and so I felt obligated to accumulate some ornaments and lights to doll it up, since I’d given all of mine away a couple of years ago. After purchasing lights and being unable to find unbreakable ornaments at reasonable cost in the nearby stores, it occurred to me that Goodwill, just up the street, probably sells them. That’s where my decorations went. So, at a total cost of about $5.00, I put together a collection of baubles to hang on our tree. New expensive ones would have no sentimental value for me, as my own did, so the cheap used ones are just as good.
My notebook computer refused to boot up this morning after I upgraded Internet Explorer. This old desktop assimilated the upgrade and kept right on trucking as it has been doing for at least four years. The notebook is newer and more temperamental, I guess. I’m waiting for a response from my son-in-law to see whether I should feed the thing a restoration CD or give it a kick or hit it with a hammer. Stay tuned
