Belated Christmas Dinner

Tonight we celebrated Christmas, sharing traditional turkey and all the trimmings with three of Floyd’s kids and their families. It was a fun evening with the sports fans entertained by a football and then a basketball game on a big screen television.

Family holiday dinners are always full of remember when’s and those stories are mostly new to me. The daughter’s family who hosted live on a hill and there is still snow and slush on some of the streets leading to their house, but they are navigable.

Next Saturday my kids will be here for Chinese take-out. I’m looking forward to that for a good visit with them. We keep in touch by email and phone, but the personal touch is more special.

I had a swim in a deserted pool today, but had to share the hot tub with two other people.

Our housekeeper was not able to get here on her regular day last Tuesday, so we are now three weeks without her services. She won’t be back until next week, so I did some scrubbing and dusting today and will have to do more before the weekend. That should help my exercise program.

I actually got a little writing done today, in between laundry and household chores. Writing about some of the many moves I’ve made over the years brings back memories, some good, some not.

We will probably see the New Year in at a neighborhood party in the clubhouse next door. I haven’t decided whether or not to make any resolutions.
