Budgeting EnergyI’m not talking about the kind of energy that’s in all the news today. I’m talking about human energy—this human’s energy. At my age, I spend some time figuring out how many chores I can do before I need a nap and if I’ll have energy to do more after the nap. That’s one of the exercises that helps keep my brain active. Often there are days when I use all the energy I have trying to figure out whether I can actually get any chores and/or writing done. Yesterday, for some strange reason, I had a high-energy day and knocked myself out. I did several loads of laundry, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom floors, changed sheets and hooked up the electric blanket and even did a little writing. Today I’m half dead. Fortunately, today was lunch in Portland day, which takes up half the day. Then I had a nap at home and did some writing. Now I have papers ready to read at all three of my writing venues this week. Tonight I’m vegging out and watching TV. Since the swimming pool here is closed for two weeks, I have to spend time and energy tomorrow renewing my Kaiser Silver Sneakers membership at the Sherwood YMCA, so I can use their pool for a couple of weeks. I’m going to take the arthritis water exercise classes again to see if I can learn anything new and whether I’m doing the ones I know correctly. Who knows why they can’t repair our pool in the summer when the outdoor pool is more bearable. They are keeping it open for the brave. They suggest if it’s raining, “stay under water.” I don’t do “under water.” 0 Comment(s) about this entry. | Permalink |
