Busy Day with No WritingBusy day today—went to TOPS meeting to learn that I lost the half-pound that I gained last week—not exactly progress. Then did a little shopping and went home for lunch and a nap. Later I swam and stopped to buy batteries I’d forgotten earlier, so I could use my new blood pressure monitor. Home again, I had a light supper and listened to Barack Obama’s acceptance speech. I wish I could believe that he will be able to accomplish his high objectives, but I’ve lived too long and seen too many hopes dashed, especially in the political arena. The phone woke me from an inadvertent after-dinner nap, so I got up and dragged myself around to do a few chores. Plans to take the bed out of the spare bedroom and replace it with a sofa bed necessitate removing all the items stored under the bed and finding homes for them, as well as removing the bedding, washing it and finding places to store it. I hate that my energy level leaves me worn out after a few tasks that I once did easily in short order without fatigue. Resting at the computer, I put batteries in the blood pressure machine and took my blood pressure reading. I was pleasantly surprised that it is within the range the doctor suggested as desirable. I’ll take it several times this first week and just twice a week after that, as he requested. We have several invitations for free meals on Labor Day to pick from. The weather will determine whether we stay close to home or drive a few miles away for the midday meal. If we get up in time, one free breakfast awaits at our local buffet, after we buy one. We are slowly learning not to overeat at these events.
Time to drag my tired body to bed.
