Chilly HolidayHere it is July 4thd and too chilly to sit on the deck with a cold drink and read. Maybe with a hot toddy or hot tea, but I gave up and came back inside. Friday we had half an inch of rain in Portland and an inch in Vancouver, across the Columbia River. Today we joined neighbors for a potluck at the clubhouse next door to celebrate the Fourth. I bought a fruit tray to take so I didn’t have to cook. There was a fairly good sized crowd enjoying a lot of food with too many desserts There was a big crowd at the orientation meeting for new residents a week or so ago, so we’ve been adding residents lately. The Monday lunch group is planning to meet in Laurelhurst Park this coming week. The weather forecast for tomorrow has been cranked down from 80 degrees to 74, but the forecast still predicts 90 plus degrees by the end of the week. We will see. I can handle it if they are wrong and we stay in the more comfortable 80’s. The missing child case that has been the focus of our news for weeks now is becoming more bizarre every day. I can imagine Ann Rule taking notes. It definitely sounds like her kind of story. The other high profile story, typical political sleaze, is pretty sad. I hope it doesn’t destroy what Gore’s accomplished for the environment. Be careful what you wish for, Portlanders. Weird isn’t always good. 0 Comment(s) about this entry. | Permalink |
