Comes the Revolution?

I understand totally why all these people are marching in the streets. What I don’t understand is why they’ve come to the party so late. Where were they when the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were started to suck billions into the purses of greedy contractors?

I wept when the war in Iraq started. I’d lived through World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and I know there are no winners, except for the greedy. At least those former wars created employment in this country—not so, these most recent ones. Instead, they’ve sucked the life out of our economy and taken the lives of some of the best of our young men and women.

What I hope is that someone is listening—someone who can change the status quo. I think politicians should be paying attention. Most CEO’s are deaf to the pleas of the plebeians. They are not vulnerable as the politicians are.

The sad story is that our present president is being blamed for the mess we’re in. He didn’t create it; he just had the courage to tackle what might be an impossible job—getting us out.
