Delayed Decorating

I’ve undoubtedly broken some record of mine this week; I’m just not sure exactly what it is, but I’ve had the ironing board and iron out twice in just a few days. I bought valances for the kitchen and dining room windows, after being here a year, and had to press the fold wrinkles out of them.

I also found a poster of a Maui sunset to cover a portion of a dark, ugly wall in the dining room. If we don’t make it to Maui this year, we can at least enjoy that picture until we do.

The daughter of one of my mother’s brothers, my first cousin, is recuperating from cancer surgery similar to what I had nearly twenty years ago. She is getting excellent care and should make a good recovery, as I have. Cancer has been very prevalent in our family.

Moving on to more fun things, we attended the engagement party of Floyd’s oldest daughter and her fiance’ Sunday evening. All of his five children were there, along with four of their spouses, and a number of other relatives and friends. The weather was pleasant enough to eat outdoors and share wonderful conversations. The engaged couple were high school sweethearts who went separate ways, raised children, became single and got together again recently.

The wedding, next month, will be at Pumpkin Ridge, and should be a good time also. It’s nice that we’re getting some rain now to help our growing plants. Maybe August will be totally dry for the wedding and other summer festivities
