Giving Back a Tree, or at Least a Branch

In recent years I’ve complained that the computer, rather than reducing paper consumption, has probably increased it. But, my activities today, lead me to believe I may be wrong about that.

Most of the day today, I spent cleaning file drawers, to eliminate a file cabinet and use the space for other furniture. As I went through my collection of research material, lists of markets, guidelines for writers, etc. I realized most all of that is available and, much more up-to-date, on the web. So, I am recycling the possible equivalent of a tree--albeit a small tree. I feel good about those results. Actually, I can’t understand why I didn’t think of that sooner. Slowing down in my old age, I guess.

Tomorrow I’ll create more recycling as I totally empty a two-drawer file cabinet and recycle it, also.

So much stuff to part with, but I do feel lighter and freer with less clutter.
