GoogledIt appears that Google is providing personal information in reverse telephone directory format for subscribers with the membership fee and current telephone numbers. When I googled my phone number, having paid no membership fee, my website and my post office box address came up. I don’t object to having that information readily available, but having my home address (allegedly with a map) available is pretty scary. I understand you can be removed from this service for a small fee, so I shall investigate that option. Yesterday, in a batch of jokes, I received a list of foods with various health benefits attributed to them. The information may or may not be backed up by research, but it certainly could be more useful than the repetitive jokes and other emails making the rounds over and over again. At any rate, I printed a copy so that I can do some further checking. Also yesterday, I received an animated version of a recommendation that retirees choose a cruise ship for their residence since it would allegedly be less expensive than a nursing home. It’s pretty cute, but not too persuasive to this veteran cruiser. Granted, the ambiance would be superior to most nursing homes, but there is a definite downside. The suggestion that they’d toss you overboard for burial doesn’t deter me, but the thought that living on a cruise ship might hasten my demise certainly does. Summer is making a last ditch stand with warm to hot temperatures. I hope it will extend into a pleasant Indian Summer such as we?ve had some years in the past. If we have the predicted colder, wetter winter, I may get more writing, sorting and other indoor projects accomplished, so it won’t be all bad. I?m anxious to get back to regular meetings of my writers’ group next month. Taking the summer off always seems to make me lazy or lazier--whatever. I did manage to do a short editing project and finish a submission for another writer’s book over the summer, but they were both fairly small jobs. The organizing and filing I did was a larger project, but there is always more that can be done in that area. My road to hell was the intention to enter poetry contests, which I still haven’t gotten around to doing. Oh well, it’s been many a moon since I won a prize anyway. 0 Comment(s) about this entry. | Permalink |
