Hardball Season

Any woman who throws her hat in the political ring in this country has to be a tough cookie. And tough cookies play hardball. Unfortunately, it gets thrown back to them in spades.

Since the days when women adulterers were stoned, females have traditionally been targets whenever they deign to step into formerly male-dominated territory. Thus I fear it is unlikely we will have a female president in my lifetime, maybe not even in my children’s lifetime. That makes me very sad.

Even female tough cookies, I believe, would be far less likely to send our boys off to useless wars, or attract terrorist attacks to our homeland.

In this election year, I salute the gals who’ve had the gumption to put themselves in a cruel spotlight to try to make this country a better place.
