In My OpinionYears ago my second husband had a radio show he called “Your Opinion.” It was a call-in talk show of the type still very popular today. I always thought he should call it “My Opinion,” because he talked more than he allowed his listeners to do. Maybe because he was blind and didn’t have as many opportunities to share his views, he found that forum irresistible. The opportunity to blog was not available then. It boggles my mind to think what he might have done given that chance. At present, I?m on the Zogby Survey list. I receive a group of questions periodically. Most of the surveys start with questions about voting. Do I vote? Will I vote? Whom did I vote for in the last presidential election? Whom might I vote for in the next? Unfortunately, I’m not allowed space to complain that, one of the few times I voted for a winner, the Supreme Court canceled my vote along with millions of others. Oh well! Sometimes I answer other surveys such as those of AARP or political parties. I avoid marketing surveys that invite multitudes of spammers to my email. In this country, in the present day, young people don’t solicit the advice of their elders as in the past here and the present in some other countries. Thus, those of us who are somewhat computer savvy need to take advantage of the opportunities that email and blogs offer us to share our opinions. Because I wrote a book based on the results of survey questionnaires (Find Romance in Later Life), I try to help out other writers who ask for information on subjects they’re writing about, if I know anything I think could be helpful. It’s always fun to think some of my thoughts might appear in others’ books or articles.
In my opinion, it’s fun to share my opinions, and I’ll continue to do so whenever the mood strikes.
