In the Swim

Yesterday afternoon I swam and exercised in chilly water, probably between 70 and 75 degrees. I moved quickly and spent only twenty minutes in the water. Today, the temperature was posted on the dressing room door: 80 degrees--more comfortable, but not balmy. I lasted for thirty minutes. I’m hoping for 85 degrees tomorrow. The best news is that the spa is full of water, which, I hope, means it will reopen soon. It’s been down for at least six months and sorely missed. Pun intended.

Yesterday morning I went next door to the morning coffee klatch at Town Hall to meet a gal who had tickets for the New Year?s Eve party and pick up a pair for us. I was greeted warmly by the group, served tea and goodies, and given a gift to take home. I felt like a mooch. So, today I took my poetry books over to offer to anyone in the group who might be interested. Eleven people took books and several asked me to sign them, which I did. Both days I had some interesting conversations and heard good stories. If I can get myself moving in the mornings, I think I’ll try to get over there a couple of days a week.

Now that the Christmas preparations are pretty well complete, I’m feeling motivated to start some other projects. I worked on revising a poem today. Mentally, I started some organization and sorting to reduce our collection of stuff. We could use a substantial winnowing. However, I think I can wait until after the festivities to dig into those tasks.
