Life in the Smooth LaneLife has smoothed out back at home. The swimming pool closed and reopened quickly after a pump repair. I had a good swim and workout yesterday. A few days ago I drove by my former residence and saw that it has now sold. I went to the door and found the man who’d bought it from me at home. He is living there, sleeping on the floor of the room they converted to an office, waiting for the sale to close. His wife has moved to Bend already where she was transferred. He was kind enough to walk me through to see the changes they’d made. In the ten months they had the manufactured home, they did major remodeling to make it look more like a house. It is lovely. The experience was like running into an old friend who’s had a major makeover. Day before yesterday I replaced my creaky old cell phone. I went for the fewest possible bells and whistles, but it does take pictures. When I was a young girl I heard a prediction that phones would someday send pictures so that you could see the person you were talking to. I was horrified to imagine being caught in the shower, hair dripping and looking disheveled. It didn’t occur to me that you might be able to control whether or not you would be seen. I’m constantly amazed by the far out things that were predicted when I was young that have come to pass, as well as the ones that weren’t predicted that are even farther out. In my wildest imagination, I would not have foreseen old ladies in jeans, T-shirts and sneakers. When I was young, older women wore dresses of modest length and sensible shoes. I think I wrote a poem about that. I have to keep hanging around as long as possible to see what amazing things will still come to pass. Could peace on earth be possible? 0 Comment(s) about this entry. | Permalink |
