Memories, Good or Bad

I spent about half the day at Kurt and Carrie’s today. After picking beans and watering the garden, I mostly loafed and visited. Kurt was not as active today as yesterday, but that’s probably just as well. It brought back memories of the things you think twice about doing after abdominal surgery, i.e. coughing, sneezing, laughing or even blowing your nose.

Kurt and I had a nice visit and Carrie was there in the middle of the day to fix lunch for us. I traded a bottle of wine and a couple of food items for some tools (a wrench, plyers, a combination screwdriver and a metal tape. I also got to bring home some beans and zucchini from their garden. My no-no list for foods grows longer every year. The ulcer added a disturbing group that are to be avoided.

Summer is not giving up without a fight. At this moment, it is still over 90 degrees outside and 93 is predicted for tomorrow. I am fleeing to an air-conditioned space when I can. Kurt’s basement was cool and comfortable today and that’s where he’s hanging out.

Al called from Texas yesterday to report that he is up to his knees in genealogy. It was only 85 degrees there yesterday and he’s in air-conditioned quarters.
