One Hundred and Two Years AgoMy father was born on this date a hundred and two years ago. I wasn’t thinking about that when we decided to have a light Sunday supper at Elmer’s this evening. Dad liked Elmer’s and took us there often when my folks were still living in Portland and vicinity. He’s been gone for twenty-five years, but I still think of him often. I like Elmer’s because we can get small meals, especially breakfast at lunch or dinnertime, which I do fairly often. We have the good (or bad, your choice) fortune to have many restaurants close by. I fell out of love with cooking quite a few years ago, so I’m always ready to turn the task over to someone else. On another subject entirely, I recently discovered that my HMO doesn’t have a copy of my Advance Directive. I was sure that they should have, but the practitioner I visited couldn’t locate it in their computer records. I’m really glad I discovered that before the need became critical. Now I need to update the signature and get a copy to them as soon as possible. I’ll send along a copy of the health power of attorney, also. It pays to have all your ducks in a row when it’s time to go. 0 Comment(s) about this entry. | Permalink |
