Perks of Aging

I always feel good when I hear some household tip or financial or other advice that includes something I’ve been practicing for years. This morning I spotted an online article about saving on ATM fees. I’ve not paid an ATM fee for probably about ten years. It is so simple to get cash back from a debit card purchase, at no extra cost.

There are articles everywhere about getting the best charge and/or debit cards with low interest and fees. For many years, I’ve had no-fee cards and I never pay interest because I clear the balance each month.

On the other hand, I’m amazed when I hear some tip I’ve never come across before—such as how to apply nail polish to the nails only and not the adjacent fingers or toes. I overheard a cosmetologist instructing her young cousins to clear one side of the brush against the lip of the bottle, leaving polish on one side only. It works, most of the time, if your hands are steady.

When the downside of aging, (fatigue, wrinkles, forgetfulness, etc.) threatens to overwhelm me, it’s nice to get a peek at a perk now and then.
