Pleasant Day

This morning I went shopping. When I walked into Fred Meyer and was trying to remember what it was I wanted, I stumbled on a mid-aisle display case of wallets. That’s what I needed. The beat-up old black one I’ve been carrying around has a stubborn zipper and is hard to find inside a purse. So I discovered a pink leather billfold marked down to $10. plus and took it to the cashier. I told her I’d found exactly what I wanted and she scanned it and said, “And it’s only $4.35.” What an auspicious start to a good day.

I had a cup of tea and a muffin at Starbuck’s. I know it’s sacrilegious not to have their coffee, but I’m not drinking coffee these days. While I was sipping tea, I remembered that I had exactly an hour to get to my writing critique group. I rushed home without finishing my shopping, had a glass of juice and a few almonds in lieu of lunch, and went to the meeting.

All five writers showed up today and all brought work to critique, so we had a really good session. I got good input for the two poems I read, and enjoyed offering suggestions to the others.

When we finished, I went to Tigard Fred Meyer and did the grocery shopping I hadn’t done earlier and came home for a snack-lunch. After the news, I had a good nap, and drank a cup of soup while watching Jeopardy. Then I got back to the computer. Maybe I can get the stuff moved from the old billfold to the new while I watch Boston Legal. Maybe not, I might miss a good scene.
